In the last Energy Boost episode 21 I discussed the energy boosting and anti aging superfood known by many names but popularized as the Goji berry. This is definitely a very special berry that is well worthy of including into your diet in place of say sultanas as long as you are not pregnant or breast feeding. For a full list of how it can actually help you feel more energized as well as what to look out for when buying Goji berries, check out that episode here.

In this episode of TheEdTalks I discuss the so called "Superfood” maca, which is most often marketed as being a natural aphrodisiac that helps with fertility. It is a root vegetable that looks like a turnip and can be eaten like this, but in Western countries you usually see it in your health food shop or supermarket in powder form. It’s got a malty taste which I really like especially when added to smoothies and the science does actually seem to support the claim that it is a real deal aphrodisiac, increasing libido and vitality. But as always, have a chat with your healthcare practitioner before you start consuming maca as it may be unhealthy for your particular situation, especially if you are taking other medications or are pregnant or breast feeding.

In this episode you’ll discover:

  • The legend associated with maca and Incan warriors
  • Why it is considered to be so nutritious
  • How it effects libido and general wellbeing
  • Whether it can help with fertility
  • The benefits for menopausal women and prostate health for men
  • When you should be cautious of consuming maca.

In the last Energy Boost episode 20 I discussed the difference between cacao and cocoa and the truly amazing energizing benefits that you can get from consuming them. But as with all things there are pros and cons which I explain in order to help you decide whether raw cacao is better for you or roasted cocoa. You can check out that episode here for more info.

In this episode of TheEdTalks I discuss an often touted energy boosting and anti aging superfood known by many names including the nick name “happy berry” but popularised with the name Goji berry. Extremely nutritious with loads of vitamins and minerals and important antioxidants these berries are a a real little powerhouse when it comes to mental and physical energy with lots of beneficial claims from being an anti-ageing food to improving vision, helping to fight cancer and assisting with infertility issues. There are definitely some possible side effects however that need to be discussed with your healthcare practitioner before you start consuming Goji berries.

In this episode you’ll discover:

  • The difference between a Goji berry and Wolfberry
  • Why Goji berries are thought to be an anti ageing food
  • How they can reduce stress and improve energy
  • The role they play in immunity and cancer prevention and treatment
  • How Goji berries can improve your vision and assist with infertility issues
  • Why pregnant and breast feeding women should avoid Goji berries
  • Other side effects and negatives associated with Goji berries
  • How to source cheaper Goji berries

Our teeth can be one of the biggest energy zaps in so many ways. For some people just the word dentist can trigger an energy zapping fight or flight stress response. So being able to interview and learn from holistic dentist, author and genuinely wonderful human being Dr. Judene Benoit was such a pleasure. She shares so much empowering information in this interview that just may stop the dentist from pulling out the drill (that just made me internalize that awful drilling sound) for you and your kids at your next visit and teach you how to heal your teeth naturally!

In this episode you’ll discover:

  • What factors make a tooth susceptible to decay
  • What remineralization means and how it can make your teeth even harder
  • What diet is best for the health of your teeth
  • The incredible realization learnt from treating homeless people and drug users
  • The effect that malnutrition in children may have on their adult teeth
  • The importance of checking PH levels and a fun way to do it with your kids
  • The simplest way to neutralize your mouth
  • Why overall body health is so important for your teeth
  • Why brushing your teeth won’t totally offset the impact of sugar on your teeth
  • How stress directly affects your teeth’s susceptibility to cavities
  • The effect that fluoride has on our teeth and body
  • How to replace the good bacteria in our mouth
  • The effect that kissing our children has on their teeth
  • How estrogen mimicking chemicals like BPA plastics and pesticides affect our teeth
  • Why Thyroid health can affect tooth health
  • Why oil pulling may be beneficial for oral health
  • 3 tips to Feel Energized again.
